Tools and materials

Every project starts with a few simple tools. You don't need much, and you probably have some of them already.

What you need

• A pack of hand-sewing needles in mixed sizes
• Cotton or polyester thread that matches your fabric
• Sharp fabric scissors (keep them for fabric only)
• Pins and a pincushion

Choosing thread

Pick a thread a shade darker than your fabric: it hides better than a lighter one. For more, see the programmes page.
